It takes extra investment but, no guarantee of sales improvement. So, you should try to increase sales conversion rate instead of increasing traffic level.
Increasing sales conversion rate means, increasing number of sales using you existing traffic level. And, here you no need to invest extra money to drive extra traffic to your eCommerce site.
